On each of the last 13 days before the Nov. 2010 election, I'm
offering a new idea, thought or comment on how we can better position
Wisconsin for brighter day of economic prosperity and job growth.
4 days until Election Day
One of the most exciting developments in the region I serve is found at
the Southwest Wisconsin Community Action Program which is based in
Dodgeville and serves a five-county region. Historically, the
organization mainly administered programs to those in poverty. More
recently, under Executive Director Wally Orzechowski, SWCAP has become
the region’s strongest force in helping achieve community and economic
development goals. The key is in organizing strategic partners in both
the private and public sectors and forming the partnerships to
accomplish free medical and dental clinics, food processing facilities
and several other projects and programs that give people the tools that
put them on the path to become economically self-sustaining.
